The Italian trio lead by Tommaso Mantelli (like the almost eponymous Capt. Thomas Mantell, the first pilot who died chasing an UFO) mixes a punk attitude with electronic machines, the result being some delicious pop. The latest Captain Mantell album Rest In Space is ready and has received a great response from the underground critics, who described them as a cross between electro and new-rave, past and future, comparing them to DEVO, Sigue Sigue Sputnik, New Order, Zoot Woman, Orgy. The official release on Hypotron / IRMA records is set for early 2010, but you can enjoy the preview EP Into The Cockpit before the official album release. Two space videos and a handful of prestigious remixes are already in the pipeline. The space crew has been touring since 2007 to promote the first full length. More than 100 gigs, sharing the stage with big artists as Chemical Brothers, Klaxons, Mouse On Mars, White Rose Movement, Icarus, Tito and Tarantula, Louie Austen, Freakatronic, Meg, Bugo, OJM, Amari, Atari, Ex Otago, LN Ripley, Werdisco, Low Frequency Club and appearing at the main music festivals in Italy: Heineken Jamming Festival, Neapolis Festival, Venetian Industries Festival, MEI and club nights as Draft Punk Night (Bologna), Wah Wah Club (Venice), Amigdala (Rome), Saetta (Milan). Radio and TV interviews and appearances on Rock TV, Radio Deejay Tropical Pizza, Radio Sherwood Padova, Radio Onda d'Urto Brescia, Radio Base Venezia, Radio Popolare Bari and many college stations. In 2008 Motorola, Mercedes and Chevrolet use the single Sorry, I Love My B-Side for their commercials in Germany. The same song appears on a Comma Fashion (D) film and on a Weisse Arena (CH) video production.
